Sunshine, peace and everything a group needs – just four and a half hours away
Are you planning a retreat, a seminar or a week with your team and wondering where it will work best? We lead seminars here ourselves and see again and again how good this island is for groups. Here are the reasons.
1. A short flight, hardly any time difference
From Germany, Austria, Switzerland and most of Europe you fly around 4 to 5 hours, from many cities directly. Tenerife is on the same time as the UK and only one hour behind Central European time. That means no jet lag, and the very first evening belongs to the group. Almost all direct flights from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, France, Italy and most other European countries land at Tenerife South, the island’s main airport. From there it is about 30 minutes to Castillo Moro. The smaller Tenerife North airport is only 15 minutes away, but it mainly serves flights to the other islands, to mainland Spain or with a stopover, for example via Madrid.
2. Mild all year round
Tenerife is not called the “island of eternal spring” for nothing. On the east coast, winter days are usually around 20 degrees, and in summer it rarely goes above 30. That is ideal for a retreat: you can sit outside, swim in the sea and enjoy the sun during breaks without the heat taking over the day. Especially in winter, when it is grey at home, this light is good for body and soul.

3. Safe and European
Tenerife is part of Spain and therefore of the EU. You pay in euros, healthcare is good and the European Health Insurance Card is valid. For you as a seminar leader, that means less organising, less uncertainty and more headspace for what really matters.
4. And yet another world
At the same time you immediately feel that you are somewhere else. The Canarians are warm and relaxed, and the culture is colourful: Spanish, with many influences from Latin America. Music, festivals and an easy-going way of life shape everyday life. If you come in February, you can even experience one of the biggest carnivals in the world in Santa Cruz.
5. Nature without risk
There are no venomous snakes and no dangerous animals on Tenerife. On the east coast we have practically no mosquitoes. The Atlantic water is clear and fresh. So you can meditate, hike or do yoga on the beach with your group, completely relaxed.
6. Day trips, and back home in the evening
Hardly any island is so varied: Teide National Park with Spain’s highest mountain, the laurel forest in the Anaga mountains, the old town of La Laguna (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), black lava beaches and golden sandy bays. Everything is close together. A free afternoon is enough for a real experience, and in the evening the group is together again.

7. A place that holds the group
In the end, the place decides whether a retreat goes deep. A house where the group is among itself, a room with space for silence and movement, and corners where people still sit together in the evening. That is the difference between a trip and an experience that stays.

Your retreat at Castillo Moro
That is exactly why we lovingly transformed Castillo Moro: a house like a small Moorish castle above the Atlantic that belongs entirely to your group. With the Samadhi seminar room (approx. 70 m², sea view, soundproofed), yoga mats, cushions and singing bowls, a kitchen on every level and a palm garden for the breaks. Ideal for yoga, tantra, meditation and bodywork retreats, for seminars and team weeks, for small and large groups.
